10/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 7 February, the European Tax Adviser Federation (‘ETAF’) submitted its recommendations to the European Commission on the EU’s future e-invoicing strategy, which is due to be published in the first half of 2025. In these recommendations, the ETAF expresses its major concern about the regulation of Peppol access points, “as many countries currently lack oversight, increasing the risk of fraud and privacy breaches”. The federation is calling for mandatory regulations in all EU Member States, “with secure authentication processes that must also be implemented to verify users accessing invoices”. It is also calling for the introduction of automatic mandates for regulated tax advisers and accountants, enabling them to verify the identity of legal representatives and validate mandates.
