Brussels, 06/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – Reacting on Thursday 6 February to Donald Trump’s comments that he wanted to “take control of Gaza” and turn it into a riviera, European External Action Service spokesman Anouar El Anouni reiterated that “Gaza (was) an integral part of a future Palestinian state” and that there should be no further forced displacement of Palestinians. “The EU remains firmly committed to a two-state solution, which we believe is the only path to long-term peace for both Israelis and Palestinians”, he added. Meanwhile, while Mr Trump signed an executive order ending US financial support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier said that EU support would continue.
