06/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – The year 2025 is starting with new temperature records. According to the monthly bulletin from the European Commission’s climate change observatory, Copernicus Climate Change Service, published on Thursday 6 February, January 2025 was the warmest January on record worldwide, with an average surface air temperature of 13.23°C, 0.79°C warmer than the January average for the period 1991-2020. The average temperature in Europe - the second warmest after January 2020, which was 2.64°C above average - was 1.80°C, 2.51°C above average. This was particularly the case in southern and eastern Europe, including western Russia.
