FRENCH net, new network for young French European affairs professionals

The FRENCH net network, which aims to bring together French people under the age of 40 working in European affairs in Brussels, will officially launch on Wednesday 29 January at the European Parliament, with a discussion on current European issues decoded by MEP Marie-Pierre Vedrenne (Renew Europe, French).

The network’s mission will be to offer its members - corporate lobbyists, consultancies, associations, European officials and researchers - a forum for exchange and mutual support within an impartial framework, “while expressing a strong commitment to Europe and a desire to strengthen France’s influence in European policies”. Journalists are not invited at this stage.

As pro-European citizens, the founders of FRENCH net believe that the network can prosper without having to collaborate with the far right. Without dismissing the conservative ECR group out of hand, they believe that the group’s French MEPs are not representative of this network.

Among the events the network will be organising is a monthly discussion, in camera, with a high-level European figure. During the network’s first few months, the European Parliament politicians targeted are from the political spectrum from The Left to the EPP. European Parliament Vice-President Younous Omarjee will speak in February and Valérie Hayer in the spring.

Once it has got into its stride, events will be organised with French European officials and other networks similar to FRENCH net.

The network is open to any French person who meets the criteria, for an annual fee of €150. The participation limit (120 people) for the first event has already been reached.
