17/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 16 December, the Council of the European Union decided to extend until Tuesday 13 January 2026 the European sanctions against five high-ranking Guatemalan officials whose actions had attempted to obstruct the inauguration of the new president, Bernardo Arévalo, in mid-January (see EUROPE 13342/25). Among the five people whose assets will be frozen and who will be barred from entering the EU is the Attorney General of Guatemala, María Consuelo Porras.
