Albania and Montenegro make progress towards EU membership, while EU27 remain cautious about Serbia

The end of 2024 will have seen a number of notable advances in the EU enlargement process. On Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 December, in the margins of the ‘General Affairs Council’ (GAC), two Intergovernmental Conferences (IGCs) were held with Albania and Montenegro.
