12/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European consortium ‘CitiVerse EDIC’, a European instrument built as part of the 2030 policy programme for the digital decade, was officially launched in Valencia on Thursday 12 December. Supported by €80 million in funding from Digital Europe, it offers artificial intelligence tools for managing traffic, energy and water in cities, as well as immersive technologies to enable citizens to participate in the development of their city. The aim is to connect around 100 European cities within two years, and to encourage industrial partnerships and the management of common urban challenges. The project, which will bring together 14 EU Member States and aims to include around 100 cities over the next two years, is part of the ‘AI Innovation Package’, an initiative supported by the European AI Office.
