10/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 December, the EU Council added two Sudanese generals to the list of persons and entities subject to EU restrictive measures. These sanctions include the freezing of their assets and a ban on supplying them with economic resources from the EU. Osman Mohamed Hamid Mohamed and Abdel Rahman Juma Barkalla, senior members of the Rapid Support Forces, have been sanctioned for their involvement in multiple acts of violence and human rights violations. They are accused in particular of the assassinations of the lawyer and activist Ahmed Mohammed Abdullah and the Governor of West Darfur, Khamis Abakar, as well as a series of attacks on civilians that have caused thousands of deaths, some of them buried in more than 13 mass graves, according to the United Nations Security Council Sanctions Committee.
