15/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – MEPs on the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets adopted, on Monday 14 October, their draft resolution on the 2025 budget, which complements the position on the budget figures adopted on Monday 7 October (see EUROPE 13499/3). With this draft resolution, the European Parliament Committee on Budgets is affirming its desire to strengthen the budget for Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, EU4Health, climate action and support for neighbouring regions. The cascade mechanism, which should make it possible to pay interest under Next Generation EU, should not reduce funding for essential programmes, according to MEPs. The draft resolution was adopted by 25 votes to 5 with 2 abstentions. Parliament’s position will be voted on at the second plenary session of October in Strasbourg. Negotiations will then begin with the EU Council. (FS)
