23/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 23 September, the Council of the European Union adopted the revised post-Covid-19 recovery plan presented by Luxembourg, adding a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter designed to speed up the energy transition and reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels (see EUROPE 13411/20). This chapter includes a new reform to promote sustainable biogas production and new investment in energy efficiency, renewable energies and zero-emission mobility. In total, the funds allocated to the Luxembourg plan to finance measures supporting climate objectives will increase from 69% to 80% of the total envelope. There are also grants for people renovating their homes and for businesses installing solar panels on their premises. The revised Luxembourg plan has been allocated €241.1 million in the form of grants alone. For further information (in French), visit https://aeur.eu/f/c8p (MB)
