23/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 24 September, the ambassadors of the Member States meeting within the Political and Security Committee could decide to extend Philippe Chevet’s mandate as Head of the Civilian Command and Support Cell of the EU’s security and defence initiative for the countries of West Africa in the Gulf of Guinea (EUSDI). According to the draft decision, Mr Chevet’s term of office could therefore be extended for the period from 20 October 2024 to 10 December 2025. Mr Chevet’s initial term of office, which began on 20 October 2023, was due to end on 19 October 2024 (see EUROPE 13276/26).
