14/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – The latest projections (https://aeur.eu/f/co0 ) published by the European Parliament on Friday 14 June show that the EPP is set to win 190 seats (+14 compared to the outgoing European Parliament) in the new hemicycle, representing 26.39% of the seats. The S&D group is forecast to come second with 136 members (-3) and Renew Europe will still be the third largest political group with 80 members (-22). The ‘grand coalition’ is therefore on-track to win 406 seats out of the 720 in the European Parliament. The ECR group, in fourth place, will have 76 seats (+7), ID 58 (+9) and The Left 39 (+2). The Greens/EFA group is set to lose 20 seats, with a total of 52 members. It should be noted that, according to these figures, 44 members remain in the ‘other’ category and 45 are among the non-attached members (62 in the outgoing European Parliament). (LC)
