Belgian Presidency moves closer to an agreement at EU Council on substances to be monitored in water

The negotiating mandate of the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council on the directive on substances to be monitored as a priority in water obtained a broad consensus from the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on Wednesday 12 June. 

The proposal aims to revise the lists of surface and groundwater pollutants that must be monitored and controlled. It updates the Water Framework Directive and two associated directives (the Groundwater Directive and the Surface Water Directive)...
