On Tuesday 4 June, the European Commission announced that it had taken note of an agreement between the departments responsible for applying the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) to structure and supervise the application of the DSA.
ERGA, which brings together representatives of European media regulatory authorities (such as ARCOM in France), has the expertise to “facilitate the collection of relevant information at national level and produce reports on issues related to media pluralism, disinformation and the protection of minors”, according to the Commission.
The Commission has already concluded bilateral administrative agreements with the national regulators in France, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands.
Since its implementation on 25 August, no fewer than twenty-four platforms have been designated as ‘VLOPs’ (‘Very Large Online Platforms’) by the DSA rules, the latest being the Chinese online retailer Temu (see EUROPE 13421/8). (Original version in French by Isalia Stieffatre)
