04/06/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 4 June, the European Commission announced that it had approved a €30 million Italian aid scheme to support new air links to and from Sardinian airports, with the aim of improving the region’s connectivity and the mobility of Sardinian residents. The measure also aims to support air passenger traffic to and from Sardinia outside the tourist season. The scheme will be open, for a maximum of three years, to airlines setting up new routes between one of Sardinia’s airports and another airport, whether inside or outside the European Common Aviation Area. The European Commission has specified that the aid will cover 50% of the cost of airport charges incurred by each beneficiary for each new air route. (EV)
