OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting aims to sign Multilateral Convention on international reform by end of June

The OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) is aiming to sign the Multilateral Convention on international business tax reform by the end of June, Inclusive Framework co-chairs, Jamaican Marlene Nembhard-Parker and British Tim Power, said on Thursday 30 May. They stated that negotiations on the Pillar I package are almost complete.

The Inclusive Framework met for the sixteenth time in Paris from Tuesday 28 to 30 May, bringing together over 400 delegates representing 140 delegations, including 127 countries and jurisdictions and 13 observers. The finance ministers of the G7 countries voiced their concerns about the signing of the Convention at their latest meeting in Stresa, Italy, on Friday 24 May (see EUROPE 13417/20). France and Brazil have expressed their desire to organise a signing ceremony as soon as possible.

The Inclusive Framework also discussed a range of issues: the implementation and impact of the BEPS minimum standards (see EUROPE 13418/14); the possibilities for extending the scope of this impact through technical assistance and capacity building (see EUROPE 13401/24); progress and experience in implementing the global minimum tax; ongoing work on tax policy; the role of taxation in combating inequality.
