15/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 14 February, the Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) approved the decision on a mid-term review of the EU’s 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), as agreed on Wednesday 7 February between the European Parliament and the EU Council (see EUROPE 13345/21). The agreement in principle, which also concerns the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (‘STEP’) and the Ukraine Facility (see other news), will be formalised through an official request for approval submitted to the European Parliament on Wednesday 21 February. A vote of consent by the European Parliament should then be included on the agenda for the Parliament plenary session starting on Monday 26 February. For their part, the MEPs on the Committee on Budgets (BUDG) clarified their support for this revision of the EU budget on Wednesday morning, describing it as a “partial success” (see EUROPE 13350/22).
