17/01/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Union could save at least €1,000 billion by 2030 by adopting a climate policy aligned with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C target, reveals a report by the NGO coalition Climate Action Network Europe (CAN Europe) published on Monday 15 January. The report underlines the urgency of tackling the climate crisis and demonstrates that climate action is economically imperative. Chiara Martinelli, Director of CAN Europe, stresses the need for bold and swift climate action, highlighting its economic and social benefits. The report quantifies the benefits in terms of health, employment and cost of living, proposing a 65% reduction in emissions by 2030.
