18/12/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 December, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that a summit would be held on 1 February to review the Multiannual Financial Framework. “A special summit will be held on 1 February to discuss financial issues and submit the proposal for a revision of the multi-annual budget”, he announced alongside Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo, whose country will hold the Presidency of the EU Council from 1 January. At the European Council meeting on 18 December, 26 Member States gave their agreement to the proposal on the table (see EUROPE 13315/1). “It is the starting point for this summit to try to convince the 27th Member State (Hungary, editor’s note) to agree so that we can reach a unanimous agreement on this issue and honour this commitment to Ukraine”, said Mr Michel.
