EU accession, EU27 leaders welcome their counterparts from Western Balkans to encourage them to focus on reforms and alignment

On Wednesday 13 December, the Heads of State or Government of the EU27 will meet their counterparts from the six countries of the Western Balkans for an EU/Balkans summit. The discussions should result in a declaration fairly close to the one that emerged from the Tirana summit in 2022 (see EUROPE B13078A1), although the Member States should be “a little more demanding”, warned a European source.
