European Commission publishes EU’s first list of critical medicines

On Tuesday 12 December, the European Commission published the Union’s first list of critical medicines, in collaboration with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMAs).

The Commission is implementing one of the measures set out in its communication on combating medicine shortages in the EU.

The aim of this list is to ensure that patients have the medicines they need, by reinforcing the security of supply of critical medicines and avoiding shortages....
