Enlargement of Schengen area, Commission still believes in a positive decision on Bulgaria and Romania during Spanish Presidency of EU Council

On Tuesday 5 December, at the end of a meeting of EU interior ministers, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, and the Spanish Minister for Home Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez, once again expressed their hope that Bulgaria and Romania would soon join the Schengen area of free movement.
