On Tuesday 5 December, the European Commission announced that the new high-level expert group tasked with supporting the interim evaluation of the Horizon Europe programme had held its first meeting on the same day.
This meeting marks the official launch of this expert group, chaired by Manuel Heitor, a former Portuguese minister and professor at the University of Lisbon’s Instituto Superior Técnico.
The group comprises 15 European experts selected from 359 applications.
The group will hold monthly meetings between January and October 2024. These meetings will culminate in the publication of a final report, which should help to strengthen the impact of European funding and the programmes of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (R&I), for the remainder of Horizon Europe and for future R&I framework programmes.
