09/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 9 November, the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, said that the European Union should consider banning Israeli extremists who advocate violence in the West Bank from entering its territory, considering the Israeli authorities’ failure to take action against the violence committed by settlers in this Palestinian territory to be “unacceptable”. “Our country must ensure that those who commit serious crimes, for example, those who commit violence in the West Bank, can be prevented from entering our country and the European Union”, he told the national parliament, according to AFP. According to him, these sanctions could target an Israeli minister, such as the Minister for Heritage, Amihai Eliyahu, from the far right, who has advocated the use of atomic weapons against the Palestinians in Gaza. He has reportedly been suspended by the Israeli government. (MB)
