07/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 6 November, the European Research Council (ERC) announced two appointments made by the European Commission. The Commission has appointed a renowned economist, Professor Torsten Persson, as a new member of its Scientific Council, which is made up of 22 eminent scientists and academics. Their main role is to define the ERC’s strategy and select peer reviewers. In addition, Professor Gerd Gigerenzer, who is a current member, has been elected Vice-President of the ERC for the Social Sciences and Humanities, replacing Professor Eveline Crone, whose term of office ends on 31 December. Both will take up their positions on 1 January 2024. Finally, Professor Milena Žic Fuchs and Professor Gerd Gigerenzer were reappointed to the Scientific Advisory Council for a further two years. (EV)
