At the launch of the 21st European Week of Regions and Cities on Monday 9 October, the Commissioner for Cohesion, Elisa Ferreira, and the President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), Vasco Alves Cordeiro, highlighted the crucial role played by cohesion policy in mitigating the effects of the energy crisis and in helping people fleeing Russia’s war on Ukraine, as well as the communities and regions that have taken them in.
