On Monday 9 October, the European Commission announced that it had authorised a €100 million Italian state aid scheme to support the production of electrolysers. The Commission stresses that the measure will help to boost production capacity for the strategic equipment needed to diversify energy sources. The measure will be open to all sectors except financial institutions. The aid will reach eligible beneficiaries in the form of direct grants, which must be awarded by 31 December 2025 at the latest. The scheme was notified under the Temporary Crisis and Transitional Framework for State aid adopted by the Commission on 9 March 2023 (see EUROPE 13138/1).
