09/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 October, the heads of the EUBAM Libya mission, Natalina Cea, and of the European Affairs department of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdulrahman Khamada, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a view to future bilateral cooperation. The aim of the protocol is to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the EUBAM mission and Libyan institutions in managing and securing Libya’s borders and in combating border crime and terrorism. As well as strengthening the mission’s legal framework, the MoU consolidates the partnership to facilitate the mission’s provision of technical assistance, capacity building and training. This partnership also includes support for strengthening cross-border cooperation with Libya’s neighbours, including in the Sahel region, the mission stated in a press release. (CG)
