European Parliament makes recommendations for future development of EU-Uzbekistan relations

MEPs adopted by a very large majority (505 votes in favour, 9 against and 76 abstentions), on Wednesday 4 October, the resolution tabled by Ilhan Kyuchyuk (Renew Europe, Bulgarian) on Uzbekistan.

The report highlights the country’s key role in Central Asia, making it a region of strategic interest to the EU in terms of “security, connectivity, energy diversification, conflict resolution and defence of the rules-based multilateral international order”.
