04/10/23 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 4 October, the European Commission announced that it had approved a €193 million Lithuanian programme to support the development of offshore wind farms. The measure will be open to companies operating in Lithuania and other Member States via a call for tenders for authorisation to develop and operate a new offshore wind farm in an area of the Baltic Sea. The aid, which will be granted before 31 December 2025, will take the form of a variable premium under a 15-year two-way Contract for Difference (CfD). The scheme was notified under the Temporary Framework for State aid during crisis and transition periods, adopted by the Commission on 9 March (see EUROPE 13138/1). (EV)
