06/09/2023 (Agence Europe) – The ministers responsible for competitiveness in the EU Member States are expected to adopt their position (‘general approach’) on the directive and regulation to further protect the intellectual property of industrial designs, at their meeting on 25 September. The Member States’ ambassadors to the EU gave the green light to the two texts on Wednesday 6 September, but they will not be made public until they have been officially adopted by the ministers. This initiative, proposed by the Commission at the end of 2022, aims in particular to improve and harmonise registration procedures for the protection of industrial designs in the Member States (see EUROPE 13076/38).
