Brussels, 28/07/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 28 July, the European Commission announced that it had approved a Dutch measure worth €246 million to support the production of renewable hydrogen. The aid will reach the companies selected through a tender process in the form of a direct grant over 7 to 15 years. The call will be open to all companies established in the European Economic Area, operating a hydrogen production unit in the Netherlands or wishing to build and operate one, which meet the European criteria for the production of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (see EUROPE 13202/35). The Commission found that the measure complied with the European rules on State aid, specifically Article 107(3)(c) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and the 2022 guidelines on State aid for climate, environmental protection and energy (see EUROPE 12878/28).
