27/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 27 January, the European Commission formally endorsed the new Guidelines on State aid for Climate, Environmental protection and Energy (‘CEEAG’). The CEEAGs are applicable from this date (see EUROPE 12858/2). The new guidelines provide the framework for public authorities to effectively support the objectives of the European Green Deal by minimising distortions of competition. In particular, they aim to broaden the categories of investments and technologies that Member States can support to new areas (clean mobility infrastructure, resource efficiency, biodiversity) and to all technologies that can contribute to the ‘Green Deal’ (renewable hydrogen, electricity storage, decarbonisation of production processes).
