ACER calls on market players to improve quality of LNG data communicated

In an open letter on LNG market data quality published on Thursday 27 July, the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) highlights the most frequently observed data quality problems and calls on LNG market players to improve the quality of the data they provide.

Since 31 March 2023, ACER has published daily assessments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices and its benchmark indices. Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2576 requires ACER to carry out this assessment and sets out obligations for LNG market players in terms of data communication.

In its regular analyses, ACER has observed quality problems concerning the completeness, timeliness and accuracy of the data provided.

The Agency requests that any data quality issues be addressed, that the Agency be promptly informed of such issues, and that compliance with the reporting requirements outlined in the ACER LNG data reporting guide be proactively ensured.
