Formalisation of a new Norwegian financial contribution to European Peace Facility

25/07/2023 (Agence Europe)On Tuesday 25 July, the European Union and Norway signed a transfer agreement for a voluntary financial contribution from Norway to the assistance measure under the ‘European Peace Facility’ (EPF) for the supply of military equipment to Ukraine’s armed forces. In response to Kyiv’s needs, Norway has earmarked this amount specifically for deliveries of ammunition and spare parts for Leopard II tanks. This signature formalises the Norwegian government’s decision on 14 February to support Ukraine via the EPF by making a voluntary financial contribution of 250 million Norwegian kroner (around €22 million). It guarantees that the agreement can enter into force. This is the second time Oslo has made a financial contribution to the EPF, bringing its total contribution to 400 million Norwegian kroner (around €36.5 million).
