18/07/23 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced, on Tuesday 18 July, that it had released €14 million to improve reception conditions on Lampedusa and to help Italy manage migration. The Commission’s financial aid will be granted to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which will work in close coordination with the Italian authorities and the European Union Agency for Asylum, according to a press release. “Priority will be given to vulnerable migrants, in particular unaccompanied minors, pregnant women, single women with young children and people with disabilities. Basic needs such as clothing, food and primary medical assistance as well as temporary accommodation will be provided to beneficiaries, if necessary”.
