18/07/2023 (Agence Europe) – An informal transatlantic dialogue on consumer financial protection was launched on Monday 17 July in Washington between European Commissioner Didier Reynders and the Director of the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (US CFPB), Rohit Chopra. The dialogue will focus on digital developments in the financial sector and their impact on consumers. In addition to exchanging experience and technical skills, it will help to coordinate political issues such as: - automated decision-making and data processing in financial services; - new forms of credit; - over-indebtedness. The Commission and the US CFPB will meet at least once a year. There will also be meetings between senior officials and experts, and round tables with consumer associations, industry representatives and other stakeholders.
