10/07/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 July, the European Commission announced the extension, for a further 12 months, of the agreement between 22 EU telecoms operators and seven Ukrainian operators aimed at reducing roaming charges. The agreement, which was originally signed in April 2022 (see EUROPE 12929/3), is intended in particular to limit the costs incurred by operators when connecting cross-border calls. The European Commission has also invited all operators who are not yet part of the agreement to join. It is also preparing to integrate Ukraine into the EU roaming zone (see EUROPE 13122/3), which it believes “would be a more stable and longer-term solution”. (TM)
