07/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 6 June, the Spanish authorities submitted a revised recovery plan to the European Commission, incorporating a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter designed to accelerate the country’s energy transition and independence from Russian hydrocarbons (see EUROPE 12759/9). Initially endowed with €69.5 billion, the revised plan adds 18 reforms and 25 investments (new or amplified) for an additional amount of €95 billion, including €84 billion in loans. In particular, a €28 billion package will support strategic industrial projects in areas such as the decarbonisation of industry, semi-conductors, renewable energies and the digitisation of the water cycle.
