Destruction of Kakhovka dam, EU sends aid to Ukraine

The European Commission announced, on Wednesday 7 June, the delivery of aid to Ukraine following the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam, via its Civil Protection Mechanism and thanks to initial offers from Germany, Austria and Lithuania.

Ukraine has requested international assistance from the EU in the form of equipment and machinery for rescue operations. More than 1,400 people have been evacuated, according to the Ukrainian authorities. The authorities installed by Moscow have...
