On Wednesday 7 June, the European Commission announced the appointment of three new directors and a new Head of Representation in the Netherlands.
Belgian Marie Donnay will become Director of ‘Recovery and Resilience I’ and German Johannes Luebking will become Director of ‘Recovery and Resilience III’ within the Recovery and Resilience Taskforce (SG RECOVER), which is responsible for implementing the recovery and resilience facility.
Ms Donnay has been Head of Unit in the Directorate General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA) since 2017 and Deputy Director since June 2021. Mr Luebking is Principal Advisor and European Semester Coordinator at SG RECOVER.
The European Commission has decided to appoint Jakob Wegener Friis as Director for ‘Economies of the Member States I’ in the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN). The Danish national has been Deputy Head of Cabinet for Commissioner for Economy, Paolo Gentiloni, since 2019.
Klasja Van de Ridder has also been appointed as Head of the European Commission Representation in The Hague, Netherlands. A Dutch national, she joined the Representation in the Netherlands in 2016 as Deputy Head of Representation and Head of Communications and has been serving as acting Head of Representation since September 2022.
