22/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – Two technical meetings and three rapporteurs’ meetings will take place in the European Parliament between now and 19 April regarding the future legislation on artificial intelligence (‘AI Act’) (see EUROPE 13129/15). No less than 14 sets of compromise amendments have been discussed so far. Within the European Parliament, agreements have been reached between the political groups on several issues, such as the definition of AI. Discussions still need to be held on several aspects, such as governance, the value chain and the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence. “Although it remains possible that the EPP will not be able to vote in favour of the ‘AI Act’”, in the event of “unbalanced solutions” for some issues, “a positive vote at the end of April is becoming more and more likely”, one of the parliamentary assistants of German MEP Axel Voss (EPP, German) commented on Twitter.
