09/03/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 9 March, the European Commission authorised €32 million in German aid for the fishery sector, whose activities are suffering due to the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. The support aims to help companies in the German fishery sector re-focus their business operations. In particular, the measure will support the following: - marketing activities up to a maximum of €999,900 per beneficiary; - the adaptation of fish processing activities up to a maximum of €7.5 million per beneficiary; - investments in German-flagged fishing vessels up to a maximum of €5 million per beneficiary; and - compensation for workers who’ve been made redundant up to a total of €999,900 per company. The scheme will run until 31 December 2023 and will be funded by the Brexit adjustment reserve. (LC)
