Debt crisis and soaring food prices, sustainable food systems experts call for urgent debt relief for poor countries

The food price crisis is entering a dangerous phase with a looming debt crisis that could plunge millions more people into hunger, experts from the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food) warned on Monday 6 March, as the fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) on debt sustainability and cancellation is held in Qatar (5-9 March).
