02/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Court of Justice of the European Union condemned Poland on Thursday 2 March for failing to comply with the EU’s Birds and Habitats Directives (Case C-432/21). The Polish legislator failed to fulfil its obligations by providing that forest management carried out in accordance with the requirements of good forest management practice does not infringe the provisions of EU law on the conservation of particular natural resources, formations and components. It has also failed to adopt all the necessary legislation to ensure that environmental organisations have the possibility to bring a case before a General Court to examine the substantive and procedural legality of forest management plans.
