31/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 27 January, the United States and the European Union signed an administrative agreement to develop cooperation on artificial intelligence and computing “for the public good”. The agreement is based on the principles of the Declaration for the Future of the Internet (see EUROPE 12941/36) and will be implemented by the relevant US and European institutions and agencies. In particular, it should help with “addressing global challenges”, such as climate change, natural disasters, healthcare, energy and agriculture. “Based on common values and interests, EU and US researchers will join forces to develop societal applications of AI and collaborate with other international partners to achieve a truly global impact”, commented the Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton.
