31/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission officially announced, on Tuesday 31 January, the creation of a high-level group of experts to look into the future of Cohesion policy. As previously announced in our bulletins (see EUROPE 13075/10), the group, chaired by Andrés Rodríguez-Pose (London School of Economics, LSE), will build on the challenges identified in the 8th Cohesion Report (see EUROPE 12887/2). It will meet nine times in Brussels throughout 2023 and will publish strategic conclusions and recommendations in early 2024. “Although the principle of cohesion should remain unshakeable, the policy needs to continue to evolve and adapt to best deliver on its main goals”, said the Commissioner for Cohesion Policy, Elisa Ferreira.
