18/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The costs of retail investment products have fallen somewhat between 2012 and 2021, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) found in its annual report on costs and performance published on Tuesday 17 January. ESMA stresses that investors should continue to carefully consider fund fees in their investment decisions. The high costs of some investment products, especially for retail investors, raise concerns about actual investment outcomes, ESMA Chair Verena Ross warned in a statement. In fact, recent inflation has begun to weigh on investors’ returns. ESMA also noted that sustainable funds outperformed non-sustainable funds, except for bond funds.
