Brussels, 15/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – In Prague on Thursday, 15 December, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti submitted his country’s application for EU candidate status to Czech Minister for European Affairs Mikulas Bek, whose country holds the presidency of the EU Council. “This is a historic day for the people of Kosovo and a great day for democracy in Europe”, felt Mr Kurti. Along with President Vjosa Osmani and Chairman of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca, Mr Kurti had signed the official application for the status the previous day. Although five EU Member States do not recognise Kosovo’s independence, Mr Kurti believed, “with our dedication and willingness, we are going to change the minds of eventual sceptics as well”. (CG)
