07/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 5 December, the European Commission opened a feedback period on the update of the list of feedstocks for sustainable biofuels. While these - and sustainable biogas - play a central role in the decarbonisation of certain sectors, such as aviation or maritime transport, the Commission proposes to add several energy sources to its list. Thus, the future list could include some 15 new biofuels, including, among others, residues and waste from alcoholic distillation that are not suitable for use in the human food chain, those from fruit and vegetables, damaged crops or the retentate from ultrafiltration of dextrose from sugar refining. This consultation will remain open until 2 January 2023. See the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/4jt (TM)
